HELLO!

I'm so excited about coming back from Arizona in September for documentary family sessions!

First of all, I want to tell you why I believe in the power and importance of documentary family photography. It's honestly a passion that burns within me that I can't stop feeling and thinking about.

I was sitting at my computer the other day staring at a blank screen with a blinking cursor wondering how to communicate how passionate I am about giving real life photos to families. I got up out of my chair, walked over to my brother-in-law and said:

Austin! This isn't about me! This isn't about me creating photos that I think are pretty or making money. This is about every family that I want so badly to be able to have honest photos of their lives now.

I feel how fleeting the now is. We don't have forever. I feel that with almost every photo that I make.

My family will never be what it once was when we were growing up. I wish so badly that we had our real lives captured. I wish I could reverse time and have someone capture us as we truly were. Someone that could see into my family and our story and capture all of the little details that made up our everyday lives. Those are the images I wish we had.

I want this badly for every family. I feel the importance of these images and can see their value down the road. I truly want every family to be able to suspend at least one day every year in time forever through honest storytelling. I want every family to have an archive of images growing up together that truly captures the real you. To be able to see your children with you. To see the growing connection between you. The beauty of every stage of your life that you have gotten to live together. That's truly living, right? Savoring the little things now, because one day you will look back and see that they were the big things. Right now is sacred, and I want every family to have the heart of now captured.

This work is important to me. Not for me, but for you and your family. Having your story captured throughout these years that go by so quickly is something that I want for you.

I am excited that you are here and that you are ready to have the life that you are living right now with your family captured in a way that will truly capture your present life.

BOOKING A SEPTEMBER SESSION:

If I haven't photographed your family yet, I can't wait to meet your family and fall in love with the life you are building together.

The Details:

I am offering my $850 Play Day Session for $700 to all southeast families during the dates September 1st-16th while I am in North Carolina. This does not include travel costs ($25/50 miles traveled from Charlotte, NC).

To book a session, all you have to do is click on the link below, pick the date and time slot that works for you and is available (either 4 hour morning session or 4 hour evening session) and pay a 50% deposit to hold your date. If travel costs apply to you, they will be added to the remainder 50% to be payed 2 weeks before your session.

Because my time will be limited (unfortunately) with being there 2 weeks, if you can plan ahead and swing a weekday session, that would be amazing. Weekend sessions are an additional $50.

***If you live 2 hours outside of Charlotte, please e-mail me before booking a session. I will have to block off an entire day for your session, so I want to make sure we take care of scheduling for your session.

Once you have booked a date, I will e-mail you with a documentary family session guide to help prepare you for your session. There's not much preparation you need to do. The most important things for you to know are that your everyday life is nothing but boring; in fact, it's spectacular and way more beautiful and interesting than any posed image I could ever make of you. And secondly, the best way to ensure that you have the best experience is to be ready to fully engage with your family and be yourself. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Closer to the day, we will plan to jump on the phone and talk about your family and clear up any details of your session.

If you have any questions, uncertainties, or would simply like to get in touch, please do! I'd love to connect with you and hear about your family.

I am so grateful for you and the opportunity to photograph your family story.

“Abbi came into our home in the most unobtrusive way and, while we simply interacted as a family, going about our daily routines, she recorded slices of our everyday life. At first I thought these photos of the mundane—washing dishes, helping our children with homework, preparing afternoon snacks—would be, well, mundane. I thought I probably wouldn’t want to see pictures that showcased the scuffs on our table, the fingerprints on our mirrors, the nicks in our walls.

But Abbi has a knack for making the ordinary of life appear extraordinary and the destroyed places of a home appear charming. I was wrecked by the photos she took in my home. To see those everyday, taken-for-granted moments with our children, while they are small, memorialized into shots so beautiful is a priceless gift. I am so very grateful for her talent and her professionalism and her easy-going manner. But mostly I am grateful for the way she sees the world through the lens of a camera, because through this lens she frames a family’s life into a remarkable piece of art. When my children are grown, I will forever have this one piece of their childhood, suspended in time.”
